Vintage and second hand shop Glass Onion hosted a student night where they tripled student discounts to 30% on 30 April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tickets for early entry from 4-5pm were free for students and sold out, at 4pm a line could be seen growing outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One student, Anna Swallow, 20 said: \u201dI thought it was a very good event. I didn\u2019t expect to buy anything but I really found some great stuff that I was looking for anyway and was originally planning to buy first hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was great I had an opportunity to buy it second hand as it\u2019s better for both the environment and my pocket.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glass Onion started in 2005 with founder John Hickling selling vintage clothing out of his Grandma\u2019s coal shed in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then they\u2019ve grown to become the UKs leading vintage clothing company, processing up to 20,000kg of second hand clothing each week that would otherwise have been sent to landfill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They now have locations in Sheffield, Nottingham and Leeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another student at the event, Tom Collins, 19 said: \u201dIt was a really cool environment, I liked the style of the shop. I gave myself a \u00a330 budget and spent \u00a350 whoops!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c I love the fact they\u2019re accommodating the budgets of students with the generous discounts for good quality clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2016 Glass Onion\u2019s in-house remade factory has been transforming any damaged clothes they receive and off-cuts into new, wearable pieces that can also be found among second hand clothing in their stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foundry, University of Sheffield\u2019s Student Union club, had one of their DJs playing at the student event while customers shopped<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rhys Davies, 21 said: \u201dI liked the vibes, the music was really good from the Foundry DJ set. There was a good range of cheap stuff and I did purchase a top.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rudy\u2019s Pizza, a restaurant opposite Glass Onion, was also present at the event handing out pizza to some students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was also a free Rudy\u2019s Pizza reward for anyone who made a purchase. These rewards ranged from free burrata, desserts for two and even wine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
