A Sheffield-based brewery is set to open its first taproom as it prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abbeydale Brewery took over the former Turner\u2019s Bottle Shop in Nether Edge after its closure in January 2026, and announced the opening of its first dedicated venue to sell its own-brand beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marketing manager, Laura Rangeley, said that opening a taproom was something that the team has wanted for a number of years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said: \u201cThe site where the brewery is, we\u2019ve tried a couple of times as we\u2019ve expanded, to think about if we can have a taproom on site there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For one reason or another, it\u2019s just never quite worked, so when this unit became available at the end of last year it seemed like a perfect opportunity for us.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2024, both Abbeydale Brewery and its pub the Rising Sun have been 100% employee-owned, under the umbrella of Sheffield Beerworks EOT, the first of its kind in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Rangeley said: \u201cI think because we\u2019re employee-owned, so every single one of us is a co-owner of the business, and because of that we really wanted everyone to have their say into how things are going to look and how it\u2019s going to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are almost 30 of us who work for the brewery, so that\u2019s a lot of voices, so it\u2019s been a nice kind of challenge for everyone to work together and get a shared vision for it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1996, Abbeydale Brewery has steadily become a fan-favourite brand, supplying retailers from Newcastle to London, and has now decided to take on a new challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The taproom is set to have 12 draught lines, 10 of which are dedicated to their own extensive range including six keg and four cask, and their own in-house pale ales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Rangeley said: \u201cThere are a lot of pubs in Sheffield that stock Moonshine, which is our bestseller, but it\u2019s difficult to find a big selection of our specials in one place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo here is a kind of destination for people to be able to do that and try something from across our whole range.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as having their own beers on tap, the taproom will also stock a guest-line for new beers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taproom manager, Danny Hughes, said: \u201cI\u2019ve seen other breweries before where they haven\u2019t had their own taproom, so they\u2019ve had to rely purely on getting out into all the pubs around them, so even though we won\u2019t be able to take a lot of beer, even if we just take a keg or two it\u2019s really helping them out.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
