More than 30 University of Sheffield clubs and societies took to a charity rave, raising \u00a31,505 in support of a local homelessness aid group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organised by the university\u2019s snowsports club, the event saw several performers including students from Where\u2019s That DJ Collective play at the recently opened Hazy Club, with 50% of ticket proceeds going to The Archer Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The house and garage rave, in Sheffield\u2019s self-proclaimed \u2018largest nightclub\u2019 was described as a \u2018sellout\u2019 by performers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elliott Pearson, 19, member of Where\u2019s That DJ Collective, said: \u201cWe\u2019re all really excited by the event, with proceeds going to the Archer Project which is a vital charity for the homeless in Sheffield.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To those involved, it\u2019s clear the event is not just about the music, as Will Edwards, 20, member of SheffSnow, said: \u201cThe goal of this event was to put something on which both the charity would benefit from and an event which people would really enjoy. [It] went as well as I ever could\u2019ve imagined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of our main club goals is to give back to the community so it\u2019s an amazing way to do that. I think it shows what can be done for the community and for students with a lot of hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Archer Project runs out of Sheffield\u2019s Cathedral, offering a pathway out of street homelessness that includes on-site therapeutic and medical aid, volunteering work within the charity, and programmes supporting transitions into employed and housed life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Support has been overwhelming for what SheffSnow have called the \u2018biggest charity collab in UoS history\u2019, as Mr Edwards reported the event\u2019s turnout as \u2018in the top five most sold events\u2019 since the nightclub\u2019s opening five months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harry Simpson, 19, biology student, said: \u201cIt\u2019s great to see the city come together for something that really matters. Sheffield has an incredible community spirit and supporting those facing homelessness is always something we can get behind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
