Families and students queued round the street for the opening of Urban Pitta’s third location in Crookes whilst raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the launch of their third location, Urban Pitta offered opening day deals of \u00a31.99 pittas and \u00a32.99 salads with proceedings being donated to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spokesperson for Urban Pitta said: “If we can use our platform as a local business to make even a small difference, then that means everything to us.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the amount is still being totalled and is due to be announce this weekend, they stressed how important Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital is to the city and how so many of those living here are connected in some way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sheffield Children’s Hospital said: “We are incredibly grateful and can not wait to see the community come together for such a brilliant cause.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The opening proved to be a busy day with some people queuing nearly two hours with pittas selling out around eight o’clock. There was a constant stream of people eager to see the new location throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spokesperson for Urban Pitta said: “It was overwhelming in the best possible way.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision to open up a third location came from how busy their Woodseats and Ecclesall sites have become with a new location allowing them to keep up with demand. Many people also expressed interest in wanting a location closer to them, in particular with it being popular amongst students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spokesperson for Urban Pitta said: “It’s a really vibrant student heavy area which fits perfectly with what we do – quick, affordable, good-quality food.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One student said: “I thought that it was great that it was for charity and I was pleasantly surprised there was no restrictions on toppings,”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the opening the mascot of Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Theo Bear, came out to the ribbon cutting to help officially open the new store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another student who attended the opening said: “Everyone was in a good mood despite long queues and it made a great lunch for university students on a budget.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
