{"id":61369,"date":"2026-05-12T12:50:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T12:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=61369"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:49:53","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T12:49:53","slug":"new-urban-pitta-draws-large-queues-in-crookes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/05\/12\/new-urban-pitta-draws-large-queues-in-crookes\/","title":{"rendered":"New Urban Pitta draws large queues in Crookes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Large crowds congregated in Crookes this week as the New Urban Pitta officially opened to customers after a long wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 12pm on 1 May, queues stretched far down the Crookes road throughout the day, with many students and local residents eager to indulge in the highly discounted opening-day deals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The one time offers included pittas with any filling from \u00a31.99 and salad bowls for \u00a32.99.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opening-day promotion was also linked to a charitable cause, with the restaurant confirming online that proceeds would be donated to Sheffield\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital, adding a real sense of community to the launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Urban Pitta is a local Sheffield-based company which now three restaurants scattered around Sheffield and specialises in fresh Mediterranean food, including stone-baked pittas and customisable salad bowls with options like chicken, steak and halloumi, alongside gluten-free choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ruby Warren, a student at the University of Sheffield (UOS), heaped praise on the quality of food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said: \u201cThe food is delicious, and rather healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahead of the opening, Urban Pitta thanked customers for their patience, saying: \u201cWe can\u2019t thank you enough for your patience whilst our contractors have been working on the building. We know it&#8217;s been a long wait, and we\u2019re so grateful you\u2019ve stuck with us. Your support means the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UOS student Alfie Broughall welcomed the arrival of the new venue in Crookes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s brilliant to have an Urban Pitta in Crookesmore,\u201d he said, \u201cIt\u2019s good to have a nice reputable, local restaurant amongst the student area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added: \u201cThe opening day deals are so good, I can\u2019t believe that I\u2019m getting a meal for \u00a31.99.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local resident Simon, 53, Crookes, spoke highly of the speed of the food mixed with the high quality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said:\u201cIts nice that the food is such good quality, but I love the fast food aspect of the meal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With long queues, good food and all proceeds going to charity, the opening of Urban Pitta in Crookes was a major success, and has became a welcomed addition to the area, with many expecting it to become a hotspot for evening meals or quick bites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Large crowds congregated in Crookes this week as the New Urban Pitta officially opened to customers after a long wait.
