{"id":61690,"date":"2026-05-14T09:43:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T09:43:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=61690"},"modified":"2026-05-14T09:57:46","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T09:57:46","slug":"bands-battle-for-a-good-cause-in-neepsend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/05\/14\/bands-battle-for-a-good-cause-in-neepsend\/","title":{"rendered":"Bands battle for a good cause in Neepsend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Eight local bands performed at the Neepsend Social Club and Canteen to raise vital funds and food supplies for the S6 Food Bank.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fundraiser was organised as a response to Sheffield\u2019s housing and food crises, with entry requiring either a cash donation or a tin of food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events coordinator Eliza Kay, 24, chose to organise the charity event to\u00a0support residents struggling with rising costs and \u201cgive young artists a space where they can really get their work out there\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning band would win a cash prize and 100% of the donations collected at the event would go to S6 food bank.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are in a housing crisis and a food crisis,&#8221; Miss Kay noted. &#8220;If we can do our part and put on a little event that can help people, we\u2019re going to do that.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the showcase, the donations were delivered directly to the food bank by Miss Kay herself.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"756\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/IMG_9914-1024x756.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-61705\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/IMG_9914-980x724.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/IMG_9914-480x354.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Metal band Psylocin performing at the charity event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the performers was Psylocin, a &#8220;semi-pro&#8221; group founded by students Keegan Parsons, 19, and Max Marin, 20. While the band had previously spent years reaching out to various venues to secure shows, they were personally recruited for this specific event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parsons noted that being reached out to made the band &#8220;feel seen.&#8221; While the founders remain the core of the group, the lineup recently expanded to include drummer Tyler James Wood, 22, and guitarist Jacob Goose, 23.
