Two Sheffield brothers are once again inviting the masses to Sheffield Amphitheatre where onlookers can watch the pair scoff an entire packet of rice cakes each.
The free event, which begins at 2PM, on July 25th is the third of its kind, and has become the talk of the town with the pair’s social media success and stickered QR codes that have cropped up across the city. The brothers are preparing for 500 people to show up.
Billy Jones said: “We’re planning to eat a full pack of rice cakes in a secret time limit that’s only out on the day, there’s no water included.
“It’s bringing people together. It’s all over the place in the world currently, but we’re putting it aside, leaving politics at home, standing together and having a good time.”

Isaac Walker Jones, 29, said: “Last year it was about 250 people, so we thought let’s just double that until we’re on the big stage.”
The brother’s Tiktok account @ricecakeeaters has amassed over 500 followers, and across platforms, including a dedicated Facebook group, has garnered a mix of enthusiasm and confusion.
On the inspiration for the event Billy said: “I was scrolling along on Tiktok and I saw there was a guy in New York who was eating a full tub of cheese balls in Central Park.
“I thought Sheffield needs something like that- something really spontaneous and really weird that people could maybe get along with, so I mentioned it to Isaac on a bus back from Bakewell, and we thought rice cakes- why not?”

Isaac said: “When we did it the first year it was meant to be in half an hour- I thought it would be easy. We got to about 20 minutes in and I managed it in the end, but it’s definitely more difficult than it sounds.”
He added: “You’ve got hundreds of people spurring you on, which is amazing, but in other ways that pressure does make it harder.”
Billy said: “For the last couple of years we’ve been doing Tesco, lightly salted. It’s dry, hurts when it’s in your mouth, and remember, you’ve got no water with it.”
