Three Sheffield United players are up for nominations in the Barclay’s Women Championship end of season awards.
Izzy Goodwin, Jodie Hutton and Fran Stenson have all been nominated, with Goodwin up for the Championship Player of the Season alongside Elise Hughes, Claudia Moan and ex-United player Katie Wilkinson.
Goodwin, who scored 15 goals in 19 games after signing from Coventry United over the summer, was nominated for the Championship Player of the Season after narrowly missing out on the Golden Boot to Crystal Palace’s Elise Hughes.
Meanwhile, full-back Sutton, who has played top flight football for WSL side Aston Villa, has been nominated for the goal of the season following her goal in November away to Southampton, which also marked her first goal in red and white.
At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Fran Stenson has been deemed a contender for the Save of the Season, with a stunning save against Reading back in October.
Fran Stenson said “I’m proud to have been part of this special group. This is a season that’ll stay close to my heart and I’ll never forget it”
The Blades finished the Barclay’s Women Championship season in 7th position, an improvement of last year’s 8th placement in the league.
