WATCH: New flock of chickens become the heart of SEND project in Sheffield

by Jonah Simon-Cline

The Rainbow Kite Project has rescued six chickens, leaving members of the SEND community with exciting new companions.

Rainbow Kite Project is a community of SEND specialists based in Sheffield, Derbyshire, Chesterfield and surrounding areas. Their aim is to help individuals with autism, learning disabilities, complex needs, and PDA to ‘develop independence’.

Becca Oseman, Co Director of the Rainbow Kite Project, said that the arrival of the chickens has ‘definitely boosted people’s motivations to come, and sense of responsibility’.

The Chickens have helped to create a hugely therapeutic atmosphere on the site.

The allotment group meets every Friday, and is a great way to ensure that the clients can spend time outdoors, even if that means having to brave the rain.
