Four Sheffield Hallam students are hosting a fundraising event for St Luke’s Hospice on 10 April.
The event, ‘A salute to Vegas’, will be a themed casino night with professional croupiers alongside live performances from both a DJ and an Elvis impersonator.
The organisers of the event, Ruby Unwin-Marris, Shalomee Gumise, Rebekah Radford and Ben Storton, are final year students at Sheffield Hallam University who have come together to form ‘Fight4StLuke’s’.
All the proceeds from this event will be donated to the hospice, a charity funded organisation that provides support to thousands of people across Sheffield each year.
Mr Storton said: “A few members of our group have been in the unfortunate position of seeing family and loved ones suffer through palliative and end of life care.
“St Luke’s services truly are the backbone of the community and provide such incredible care, which is why we are so invested in doing everything we possibly can to support them.”
The Hospice helped around 1,800 patients last year carrying out both in-patient and out patient work from their base in Whirlow.
Mr Storton said: “The care, compassion and dedication they show to patients and families going through some of life’s most difficult moments is truly remarkable.”
With only 23% of running costs covered by government funding, the charity relies on over £11 million in donations each year to ensure they can keep providing care.
Katie Fielding, St Lukes’s Community and Events Manager, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Fight4Events and everyone who supports St Luke’s through fundraising as we simply wouldn’t be here without them.”
Tickets for the event are on sale at All In 4 St Luke’s – A Salute to Vegas Tickets, Friday, Apr 10 from 7 pm to 11 pm | Eventbrite, but direct donations can be given at Fundraiser by Bek Radford : Help Us Create Something That Matters.
